Obituary For Stefan “Steve” Grabas

Stefan Grabas, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Kalników, Poland, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 80 years.

Steve was born in Kalników and immigrated to Canada in 1972, where he met the love of his life, Cecylia and had two children. Steve worked as an equipment operator at Canfor and as an auto detailer for Nissan until 2006.

Whether it was playing cards, fishing, or just having coffee, Steve enjoyed getting together with friends, filling the room with laughter. In his most recent years, he was found helping his son, playing with grandchildren, or traveling with his family. Steve enjoyed life and although his battle with cancer had slowed him down, the love he had for his family never wavered.

Steve will be sadly missed by his children Erik (Jacinda) Grabas, and Monika (Luke) Potosky, as well as grandchildren: Jakub Grabas, Dominik Grabas, and Olivia Potosky.

Steve was predeceased by his wife Cecylia; parents Katarzyna and Stefan Grabas of Poland; as well as his brothers and sisters.

His family would like to thank homecare, and the various doctors and nurses that showed compassion and understanding through this difficult time.

A Prayer Service and Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.).

So sorry for your loss. I met Steve at Crystal Lake a few years ago and shared many, many conversations with him at the dock. I will so miss visiting with him there. He will be missed. I have a picture of him with his daughter in law and grandson and would love to get it to the family if they would like. Please reach out if you want it.
