Obituary For Stella Savard

Stella Savard, resident of Horse Lake First Nation, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 66 years.

She was born in Rio Grande on March 7, 1949. She was raised in Horse Lake and moved to Wembley, Grande Cache, Grande Prairie, and then settled in Horse Lake where she raised her kids and grandkids.

Stella would open her home to anyone. She was the Princess of all her sisters. She loved bingo, travelling, cooking, shopping and baking. She took care of anyone, always had a house full of people, and was always raising kids. She cooked for every holiday, and noon was when it would be done. She didn’t like people arguing or fighting.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Fred, children: Dale (Dorothy), Pam (Paul), Elaine (Walter), Jake (Joleen), Theresa (Gerald) and Elena (Jeremy); siblings: Linda, Ernest, Donald, Harley (Vandy), Darrel (Sarah), Bev (Norm), Sylvia (Albert), Aaron (Brenda), Wade (Lenora) and Rene as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all her bingo buddies, and friends.

She was predeceased by her mom Nellie, her grandparents Caroline and Narcisse; step-dad Raymond; brothers Hoss and Blair; grandchildren Shane, Vanessa and Shae; great-granddaughter Dylan; nieces and nephews Jazmine, Darrel Jr., Darwell and Miranda; and son Dion.

A Wake will be held on Friday, January 8, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Rec Center in Horse Lake First Nation.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00am, at the Rec Center in Horse Lake First Nation.

Memorial Donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association (Suite 100, 12220, Stony Plain Rd, Edmonton, AB, T5N 3Y4).

    I'm sorry to hear of Stella's passing. My heart goes out to you Fred & your whole family. I wish I was closer to home to pay my respects properly. It's been a rough years loosing so may friends & families. Take care Fred. Your children will be by your side with their babies. That is the best comfort a person can have.
