Obituary For Steve Sawchuk

Steve Joseph Sawchuk, long time resident, outstanding member and a pillar of the Elmworth community, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the age of 95 years.

Steve was born on July 25, 1920, in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1928.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Jean and their children: Allen, Joyce (Mark) and Tony; and by their grandchildren: Allysa, Brandon, and Colton. He will also be sincerely missed by his siblings and their families: Phil (Robert) Anderson, Olga Sawchuk, Mary Burns, Donna Sawchuk, Florence (George) Hanna, Albena Sewell, Frank (Julie) Sawchuk and the family of Joe Sawchuk.

He was predeceased by his three brothers: Joe, Pete, and John.

Steve will always be remembered for playing the accordion, making people smile and his big-heartedness.

The Prayer and Visitation Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 7:00pm at the Church of St. Patrick in Rio Grande, AB (Township Rd 705 and Range Road 121).

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beaverlodge, AB (1107 1 Ave.).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to STARS (10911-123 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7Z3).

    So sorry for your loss, he truly had a big smile and heart, your family and the community will miss him. I loved listening to his stories when he came to the store. He always included his family in those stories, may he rest in peace.
