Obituary For Steven Eugene Stanich

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our Dad and Papa, Steven Eugene Stanich, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

Dad was born on December 18, 1931, to Peter and Paulina Stanich. He was one of 10 siblings and was the last surviving member of the Peter and Paulina Stanich family.

Dad actively farmed into his early 80’s but remained part of the farm until his passing. Horses were one of his passions, from Gymkhana, Horse Shows, and Cutting Competitions. Dad had a love for his family and taught each one of us a good work ethic. He will be missed by many.

Survived by his 4 children: Stevie, Brenda Day, Rick, Terry (Linda); grandchildren: Nicole, Amanda, David, Corey, Tye and Shanlee; as well as 7 great-grandchildren with 1 due any time.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 11:00 am, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Rycroft, AB. Interment will follow at Old Mission Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at Rycroft Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Renovation Fund (Box 189, Rycroft, AB, T0H 3A0), or Rycroft Merry Pioneers (Box 171, Rycroft, AB, T0H 3A0).

Steve was a good friend and great neighbour to my family. After my dad died, Steve would plow the driveway for my mom. He would also stop by for coffee throughout the years to check in on her and it was truly appreciated. He was a good man and a true cowboy. My condolences to his family. Barry Henning
