Obituary For Sylvia Foster Cookshaw

Sylvia Cookshaw (nee Foster) passed away at home in Grande Prairie on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the age of 89 years.

After marrying Norm in 1953, she moved from Edmonton to Grande Prairie where she resided until her passing. Sylvia was employed at the Grande Prairie Reginal College, worked at Top Realty, and volunteered with the Red Cross, Victorian Order of Nurses, the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the British Empire, and Swanavon Elementary School. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons Garth and Norman (Kent), daughter in-law Ann, granddaughters Laura and Lenelle, sister Maxine Woodward, brother Bill Foster, six nieces, two nephews as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Norman Cookshaw and her two brothers Jack and Norm.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Sylvia’s niece Marilyn for her humorous interesting conversations and neighbors George and Janice Malcolm for their kindness and support to Sylvia.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016, at 11:00am, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grande Prairie (9929 105 Ave), officiated by Pastor Greg Anderson.

Friends wishing to remember Sylvia may make donations in her memory to the Canadian Red Cross Society (#109 10014 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2V6) or to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (Unit 109, 10126 120 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H9).
