Obituary For Sylvia Padarunok Farus
Sylvia Farus, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the age of 81 years.
She was always active and worked at different careers. She ran the Starlight Motel with her late husband (Joe) for a number of years, and then the lunch and dinner smorgasbord at the Legion. She worked in a flower shop, then became a partner in a weaving shop and finished her working days at Safeway. She became a regular at the Saturday Farmers Market selling her hand-knitted Teddy bears and hand-sewn Raggedy Ann dolls.
She loved to dance and was often at the Legion with family and friends. She was always quick-witted and loved jokes. She always loved fishing trips with her late husband and laughed how she would always catch the biggest fish. She was always positive yet pragmatic about life and was always the diplomat. Everyone who knew her couldn't help but be attracted to her and her door was always open to friends and neighbors, who will all remember her unconditional friendship and warm heart.
She is survived by two children: Donald (Dawn), grandchild Bramm, and Doreen (Jack), grandchildren Alexis and Stacy.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 1:00pm, at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St.).
Luncheon to follow at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make memorial donations to your charity of choice.
Condolences
