Obituary For Terrance Wilfred Carpenter

With heavy hearts, the families and friends of Terry Carpenter announce his passing on Monday, July 13, 2020, at the age of 61, following a brief illness which he bore with astonishing dignity, courage, and grace.

Terry was born in Vancouver on February 18, 1959, moved to Hillcrest, BC when he was just over a year old where he and his brothers were raised by dedicated grandparents, Wilfrid and Trixie Carpenter.

He left the Crowsnest Pass in his mid-twenties to pursue a career in industrial construction, traveling throughout Alberta and British Columbia, eventually settling in Grande Prairie to work as an Oilfield Consultant for CNRL.

Although Terry’s passions were golf, fishing, and tropical vacations, he loved life in general and made the most of each day and every opportunity. He always said “there is never a bad day, only bad moments on good days”; the glass was never half empty. Terry adored his entire family; however, his greatest love was his soul mate Melanie, while his children were his deepest source of pride. Intelligent, generous, charismatic, warm, humorous, endearing and free-spirited, the hole left by his passing will be impossible to fill.

Left to cherish Terry’s memory are his devoted partner Mel; much loved children: Sean (Amber), Richard (Callie), and Kaylee (Nathan); brand new granddaughter Gracelyn; brother and best friend Tim; sister in-law Dee; admired sister Diane (Philip); nephews and nieces: David (Hayley), Joshua, Caleb, Keziah and Uriah, Trevor (Vanessa), Ethan and Lexis, Jared (Bobbi) and Lincoln; much-loved cousins: Tracy Rains (step-father Harry Rains), Carol-Ann (Colin), Rileigh, Morgan, and Camryn Powell, Kelly (Amanda), Malcolm and Liam Titus. He also leaves his other families, whom he cherished more than words, the Kushneryks, Polards, and Sanduls: Corben (Graham), Torey, Steve and "Casey Momma”, Carrie and John, Kiersten, and Kelan, Aunty Nory and families; forever friends: Tom and Blanche Cunningham, Dallas and Glennie Kyle; as well as each and every member of our Gunby Ranch Family, countless friends and colleagues.

A private family gathering to honour Terry’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Peace Autism Society (PO Box 25116 Cobblestone, Grande Prairie, AB, T8X 0E9).

If you need anything, want to talk , go for a walk, coffee, just call.

Mel, I'm so sorry for your loss. Terry above everyone else i have met, knew how to live life to the fullest. Terry enjoyed a life that most people given 100 years wouldn't have been able to fit it in. And I'm so happy that he found someone so special to share it with. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely the Codfather. Terry would have laughed at that last part.
