Obituary For Theresa Blanche Cormier Morrow

Theresa Blanche Morrow, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of High Prairie, AB, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Mackenzie Place, at the age of 95 years.

Theresa was born on May 27, 1925, in Saint-Felix-de-Kingsey, Drummond, QC. She moved to Donelley, AB, at the age of 3, and attended the Convent school there until WWII, when she started working in Peace River. She moved to High Prairie, where she worked at Polaski General Store, where she met Jim Morrow and married him on June 14, 1947. He was the love of her life.

Being a new bride, plus never having farmed before, threshing time the first year was quite a sad event. A pie crust that had failed, and so many hungry men to feed. How many? She didn’t remember. Also, struggling with her English left her yearning for town life. But farm life wasn’t all that bad; they raised five wonderful, healthy children, all born in High Prairie, and most of their schooling was there until they moved in 1970. The family moved to Eaglesham, AB, and then to Dawson Creek, BC. This is where her late husband Jim passed away in 1975. She then moved to Grande Prairie and lived there until her passing.

Theresa was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved to sew, dance, knit, camp, shop, skate, majorettes, and Legion Hall.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Richard (Judy), Pat (Tom Doris), Karen Morrow (Jerry Deschampes), Doug (Gena), Brad (Veronica), and foster son Floyd Brown (Doris); grandchildren: Shayne (Twila) Doris, Wade (Monica) Doris, Chris and Ryley Morrison, Clint Morrow, Trevor (Angie) Morrow, Kat Williams (Brock Elder), Heather and Shane McKay, Amie and Rich Foster, Kirby and James Morrow, Jade Morrow, Colton Morrow, Ryan Henderson, and Frank Brown; great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Megan, Langdon, Liam, and Adam Morrow, Morgan and Dustin Miline, Karsten Doris, Eli, Ruby and Clementine Elder, Josh (Cheyanne), Caleb (Priscilla), Terann and Meliah McKay, Ava and Eve Foster, Emma and Abby Doris, Sarah, Paige and Josh Morrison, Ayden Morrow, Saphirea Morrow, Brenia Henderson, and Benjamin Brown; great great-grandchildren: Dallas and Grace Miline; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband James Morrow; foster son Floyd Brown; grandson Kenny Morrow; siblings: Bernadette, Ida, Edgard, and Fernande; as well as parents Julian and Julia Cormier.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date in High Prairie.

Memorial donations may be made to the High Prairie Legion Branch #37 (Box 177, High Prairie, T0G 1E0).

Condolences

  • June 24, 2021

I was so sorry to hear that Theresa had passed away especially since I had not had the pleasure of helping with hair care since March when covid hit. She was always pleasant with me and I will always remember her endless supply of kleenex under the cushion of her wheelchair. I would always tease her and her reply was always - YOU THINK ????? I will really miss her when we get back to NORMAL. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
