Obituary For Troy Calan Kjemhus
It is with deep sadness we announce that Troy Calan Kjemhus, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the age of 61 years.
Troy was born on April 9, 1962, in Dawson Creek, BC. He was raised and lived the majority of his life in Grande Prairie, attending the Composite High School and working at GP Carland, his father’s business. He then went on to bring KIA and Larson Boats to Grande Prairie, which he was very proud of. He then worked at Windsor Motorsports for the remainder of his career.
When Troy was 18 and out of school, he went on the road with his rock band Dirty Tricks. He was a singer and guitarist and loved living the “rockstar lifestyle”. In 1988 he met Tracey at a friend’s house in Calgary, and after one week they knew it was love.
Troy loved to watch hockey in his basement with one of his many TVs, BBQ out on the deck, and play his guitars while listening to rock and roll. He had a very infectious laugh and worked very hard to make sure everyone around him was ok. He had beautiful thick hair his entire life and was very proud of it.
Troy will be sadly missed by his wife of 34 years Tracey; children: Taylor, Tai, and son in-law Ryan, he was very proud of his daughters; Millie the puppy; his father and mother Arnie and Lila Kjemhus; brother Craig; sister in-law Kathy; nephew Kjell; brother in-law Darrin; niece Kayla; as well as so many friends and family.
He was predeceased by his father and mother in-law Gene and Jean Reiss; grandparents Ingvart and Myrtle Heggelund, and Nils and Jorand Kjemhus.
At Troy’s request no funeral will be held, but a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Condolences

I met Troy when I was 13 over a neighborhood backyard fence when he and Craig were playing guitar and drums in the back yard and we shared a love for music that lasted a lifetime. We eventually played in a great band together. I don't think I'll ever find a better friend than Troy, they just don't make them like him anymore. Troy had integrity, class and loyalty in his character that was beyond his years. We grew up together started family's at the same time and both worked In family businesses. I will miss Troy so very much it still hurts to even write this as it just doesn't seem real to myself and Kim. Troy met and married a woman he truly loved Tracy and she complimented him completely. I wish we had seen more of each other the last few years but life sometimes gets in the way of those friends we should still seek out. Hope to see you again Troy. Your friend always Parker & Kim Shultz

My condolences to the family I have such fond memories of Troy, loved his spirit and enthusiasm. He will be missed. Gone too soon. Although our times together were a few years ago now, ...outta high school and we wanted to JAM 🎼🎸🥁 Met so many new people through Troy, his zest for life was infectious. As young men, I really admired his confidence to "jump in" and "do it" in so many things People were drawn to him He was a good man with many gifts. God speed brother Bill Wright. Grande Prairie

Sincere condolences to the Kjemhus family on the passing of Troy. I have some great memories of Troy and Craig from the GP Carland days, We sure had some fun times together, hockey, music, lunches together and of course selling a few cars along the way. The Kjemhus's treated the staff like family and I'll always be grateful to have been a part of those days. Rest in peace Troy.

Our deepest sympathies to the entire Kjemhus family on the passing of Troy. I have many memories of growing up with Troy and being at many events through school, hockey, etc. some of the best times and memories were playing hockey with the GP Carland hockey team. Troy playing on a line with his dad Arnie and his brother Craig or with Rick Flette and myself. Always laughing in the dressing room having a beer. Or shooting pucks at Dave Rigler's head (our goaltender) in warm up. So many memories, so little time with us all.
