Obituary For Vera Jensen Gudlaugson

Vera Ethel Gudlaugson longtime resident of the Peace County area passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the age of 87 years.

Vera was born on October 9, 1928 in Fort Saskatchewan to Niels and Kathe Jensen. She was raised in Northmark area as the third child of seven. Vera spent her adult life raising her family and farming with her beloved husband Clarence Gudlaugson just north of Clairmont.

Vera will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her children; Val (Roger) Wold, Dwight (Bev) Gudlaugson, Judy Gudlaugson (Jim Wyatt), Sally (Kerry) Paulovich, Karen (David) Hollingworth, and Wendy (Allen) Schierman; step-children; daughter in-law Pat Gudlaugson, Loni (Art) Kelm, son in-law Ron Smallwood, Ryan (Denise) Gudlaugson as well as extended family including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral Service for the late Vera Ethel Gudlaugson will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 2:00pm at Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502 102 St.).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society (Box 21215, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 6W7), Parkinson Society of Alberta (103 10901 100 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2M9), or to a charity of one’s choice.

    Val and Roger Wold, and family: Condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you, on the loss of a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and more. While I didn't formally know Vera, I knew who she was, to see her. I always thought she was very pretty. Regardless of the age of our parents and our age, at the time our parents pass on, we still experience the grief, which comes with the loss. We miss our parents. I pray for you strength and peace, at this time and in the journey ahead.
