Obituary For Veronica Therese Cuthill

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Veronica Cuthill, 55, passed away at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, after a brief but intense battle with cancer.

Veronica was born on September 5, 1969, in Grimby, England to proud parents, Josie and Ed Cuthill. In 1974, the family moved to Canada, where they finally settled in Rainbow Lake, AB. There she graduated from high school, moved to Edmonton, AB, where she attended NAIT and eventually settled in Grande Prairie, AB. Veronica worked for years at the Travel Lodge and Stonebridge hotels, as well as the License Centre. She made a diverse bunch of friends at these jobs and loved each one of them.

The brightest light in Veronica’s life was her daughter, Carmen. With patience and perseverance, she and Brian coaxed Carmen from a shy and timid girl, to an outgoing young lady who created a life in Japan.

Veronica was a strong independent person, who had a love for travel, ComiCons, Doctor Who, and Harry Potter. She also enjoyed playing with her great nieces and nephews, murder mystery shows and the theatre.

Veronica was predeceased by her grandparents, Sarah and Joseph Anderson, and John and Ellen Cuthill; as well as nephews, Joseph and Dyllon.

Veronica leaves behind her loving partner, Brian; daughter Carmen (Sam); parents Ed and Josie; sisters Rose (Richard)and Pat; nephews Ryan (Kristal) and Jayden; nieces Kim (Brett), Semantha (Eric), Lizzie(Adrian); and a great many other nieces and nephews. Our pain is a small price to pay for her peace.

At her request there will be no funeral, however a Celebration of Veronica’s Life will be held mid-summer.

Donations may be made in Veronica’s honour to your local animal rescue or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Condolences

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Veronica at the Trumpeter. She was one of the best people I've ever known. Life happened, jobs changed and I moved out of Grande Prairie. The things I remember most about Veronica was her subtle sense of humor, her laughter, shopping at Sears, Carmen and Cassandra hanging out, talking on the phone for hours. The world is a little darker with Veronica passing. My sincerest condolences to Mr and Mrs Cuthill, Brian, Carmen, Rose, Pat and all your family. Fly high with the angels beautiful Lady!
