Obituary For Violet "Vi" Spry Rycroft
Violet “Vi” Rycroft, longtime resident of Grande Prairie and area, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the age of 91 years.
She was born April 7, 1924 on the Spry homestead, east of Sexsmith. Violet married Daniel Rycroft May 24, 1945 and together they raised six children. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as oil painting in later years. Vi’s passion was her garden and it was enjoyed by many over the years. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary and spent many volunteer hours over the years helping with various activities.
Vi will be sadly missed by her children: Loraine Trydal, Greg (Nancy), Neil, Jean (Wayne Moulton), Jack (Glennys) and her daughter in-law Jackie; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great great-grandchild, and sister Olive (Dennis McIntosh).
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel “Danny” and son William “Bill”, grandson Joey Trydal. Her parents Walter and Rosetta Spry, brother Jack, brother and sister in-law Walter and Betty Spry, and sister and brother in-law Edith and Jim Rycroft.
The Memorial Service for Violet will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00am at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
Memorial donations may be made to QEII Hospital Foundation - Palliative Care Unit (10409 98 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2E8), or to a charity of one’s choice.
