Obituary For William Aley

William “Bill” Aley, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Wanham, AB, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 91 years.

Bill was born in Blaine Lake, SK, on October 23, 1925 and moved to the Wanham area at a young age. After marrying Mildred, they continued to live on the family farm and raise their family of 5. With declining health, they moved to Pioneer Lodge in Grande Prairie in 2015.

Bill believed in and enjoyed the simple things in life and his wants for material possessions were few. Bill liked to keep the details in order and was known to do things “his way”.

Bill loved nature, going for drives, and keeping his community safe through his involvement in Rural Crime Watch. Hunting and teaching his family and his grandkids about nature brought him great satisfaction! Bill was an avid crib player and was always quick to count his points to get "the win"..

He will be sadly missed by his wife Mildred of 66 years; children: Marilyn (Marv), Mavis (Colin), Rick, Maureen (Don), and Ron; grandchildren: Roger (Megan), Tamara (Duncan), Brandon, Kristin (Robbin), Colten (Tiffany), Karter, and Ian; great-grandchildren: Cruz, Evi, Neo, Raya, Cutter, Brooklyn, Kaydance, Grace, McKenna, and Piper.

He was predeceased by his brother Desmond, sister Ivy, granddaughter Daylene, and son in-law Len.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 3:00pm, at COCO Hall, in Wanham, AB.

Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5) or to a charity of one’s choice).

Sorry to hear your husband and Dad passed away. I enjoyed my once in a while stops at the farm over the years. Bill and Mildred were always so welcoming and shared what was happening in their lives. Important friends for me. Bill gave me a wooden note pad holder he made. I still use it regularly. Hugs, Adele
