Obituary For William (Bill) Francis

Bill was born August 6, 1939 in Toronto, ON, and passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Valleyview Health Centre, at the age of 77 years, with his family by his side.

Bill spent his career first with Alberta Forestry, then with Provincial Parks. He always said he was lucky to spend his whole working life doing something he loved.

When he retired, he and Alayne spent many years travelling together and he never once saw a stream or river he didn’t like. Bill also enjoyed curling, bridge, Texas Hold ‘Em, and of course, fishing and hunting.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Alayne; daughters: Suzanne Francis and Sandra Francis; son Bob Francis (Bob Chapman).

He was predeceased by his parents Lyla and Arthur Francis, brother Arthur Francis, and granddaughter Ash-Leigh Francis.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016, at 1:00pm, at the Memorial Hall in Valleyview, AB (4808 50 St.).

Memorial donations may be made to the Valleyview Health Centre Foundation. (PO Box 358, Valleyview, AB, T0H 3N0).

Alayne, so sorry to learn of Bill's passing. Although I haven't seen him for a number of years, I think back to our forestry and prov. parks days. It was a privilege to have known Bill, his love for life, his humour and his smile.

Alayne - we have always considered it a privelege to have called Bill and you friends. II always referred to Bill as my curling husband. He always said he had draw weight in his back pocket and boy did we need it so many times. He will be always missed and forever remembered.
