Obituary For William "Bill" Joseph Hickey

William “Bill” Joseph Hickey, a resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Ladysmith, BC passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 in his home at the age of 69 years.

Bill was born on April 17, 1954 in St. John’s, NL and was the youngest of 19 children. He grew up in CBS Seal Cove, NL and later moved to Kitchener, ON.

Bill married Gena in Cowichan, BC and they have been together for 38 years. He was a great provider, husband, father, grandpa and brother. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family.

Bill was self-employed as an Exterior Finisher and was known as “The Gutterman.”

Bill was funny, charismatic, had a magnetic personality, steadfast, caring, loyal, soft-hearted, witty and smart.

Bill liked gardening, pool and hanging out with his grandchildren and children. He loved his family so much.

Bill will be sadly missed by his wife Gena Hickey; children: Janice Hickey (Jeff Hedrich) and Clint Hickey (Jackie Wenzel); grandchildren: Graidy McArthur, Adia Hedrich, Arleigh Hedrich, Wil Hickey and Sadie Hickey; as well as siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his son Wil Kostiuk; mom Mary Agnes and father Leonard Dwyer; brothers: Mike, Leonard, Hubert, Ambrose, Cyril and Kevin; and sisters: Molly, Marg, Betty, Theresa and Elaine.

    I will never forget Bill. He had a wonderful sense of humour, big heart and cared deeply!! So glad I got to have a small part in your wedding, which will always be one of my fondest memories of both Gena and Bill. Sending all of you big hugs and lots of prayers!! Love Sherilyn & Allan Vandine

    We are saddened to hear about the passing of uncle Billy, he was such a wonderful person and will surely be remembered forever. Gena , Clint and family and Janice and family hold on to all the great memories and love you all shared together.Gena , Sending Our deepest condolences to you and your precious family.
