Obituary For William "Bill" Ledyit
William “Bill” Ledyit, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 68 years.
Bill was born on January 31, 1956, in Sault Ste. Marie. As a child Bill heard grand tales of gold in the wild Yukon. This sparked his dream of driving truck and travelling North to where the gold and adventure could be found. He realized this goal in 1996, and it proved to be one of the happiest times in his life.
Bill was a quiet and reflective man. He liked to broaden his mind with a variety of interests. He never shied away from a good adventure or trying new things. He was innovative and would challenge himself to create things, such as a rock oven, so that he could roast dinner by the lakeside. He loved to rockhound and enjoyed polishing his found treasures. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, gold panning and hiking.
Bill will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathy and daughter Lindsay.
Bill was predeceased by his father William John Henry Ledyit, and sister Cindy Beek.
Cremation for Bill was held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, by Oliver’s Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s honor to the charity of one’s choice.
