William John Goodings (better known as Jackie), resident of Hythe, AB, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the age of 90 years.

Jackie was the second child born to Bill and Pat (nee Wright) Goodings, on August 7, 1932, in a small house north of Hythe. First born was his sister Florence “Shorty”. He also had 7 half brothers and sisters on the Goodings side, as well as 7 stepbrothers and stepsisters on the McGinnis side.

In 1957, Jackie married the love of his life Norma (nee Hidlebaugh), and together they had 4 children: Arnett (Sheilla), Irene (Rene Sterkenburg), Charles, and Raymond; 4 grandchildren: Jesse, Shawn, Derek (Allana) Sterkenburg, and Stacey (Jamey Rey); 3 great-grandchildren: Blake and Dylan Sterkenburg, and Alex Wong; Arnett and Sheilla’s family; Glen and Gord’s grandchildren: Sarah, Courtney, Tanner, and Greg, and great-grandchildren Kayden and Weston. Jackie is also survived by his brothers Fred (Phyllis), Vern (Karen), Billy, and Roy (Kathy); sisters: Irene (Dennis Kroeker), Annie (Herb Suter), and Hazel (Vic Eklund); as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Jackie was predeceased by his father Bill (Lyla); mother Patricia; 7 stepbrothers and stepsisters; mother and father in-law Bertha and Charles Hidlebaugh; sister Florence “Shorty”; brother in-law Sam Atkinson; son Raymond; as well as daughter in-law Sheilla.

An Interment will take place on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 1:00pm, at Hythe Cemetery. Memorial Service to follow at 1:30pm, at the Hythe Legion. Luncheon to follow.
