Obituary For William McNaughton

Bill passed away Saturday March 5, 2016 at the Grande Prairie Hospital, at the age of 84, surrounded by his family.

He was born to parents Peter and Jenny McNaughton on March 8, 1931 on the family farm in the Halcourt area. He along with his sister Jean followed their parents on many moves in their early years until they settled near Beaverlodge.

In 1952, he married Kathleen Funnell and together they raised three children on their family farm. He loved to fish, golf and after retirement he was lucky enough to enjoy many years of snowbirding in Arizona.

Bill is lovingly survived by his special friend Joyce Clark, his children: Agnes, Pete (Shelley) and Art (Tina); grandchildren: Val (Chris), Barb (Cameron), Trish (Kelly), Chris (Amanda), Brett (Natasha), Jaci (Ian), Kirbie, Michael (Gayle), and Katherine. He was also a very lucky great-grandfather to 13.

He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen, his parents Peter and Jenny, sister Jean, and many other special relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will take place at the Beaverlodge United Church on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation (Box 480, Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 0C0).

Bill was a good friend and neighbour and will be dearly missed by our family. We will remember Bill for his big laugh and smile and how he always made us feel like he was so happy to be in our company. We will remember how he took great pleasure in sharing a drink, stories and music with friends. We will remember his frequent calls with Melvin and how they enjoyed sharing the latest news with one another, often with a humorous slant. We will remember him being there in good times and bad, whether it was to help combine a field, plow snow from the lane, or celebrate a birthday. For Melvinâ??s 75th birthday book, Bill offered these kind words: â??He is one of the best guys you could ever have for a friend. As a neighbour heâ??s been unbeatable.â?? If Melvin were here to express his grief, we know he would say the same about Bill. From Doreen Longson, Linda and Dennis Johnson, Wayne Longson, Mary Ann and Stuart Bennett
